You should know who is telling you this. CheckYourTap is an independent water-quality service, funded by Valiant Energy Solutions, which sells water treatment and is our founding partner. We connect you with a vetted local water partner, and we're adding more. The report is free and does not identify a serving utility, sample a tap or well, or determine conditions at a property. We publish the limits of our own data and corrections that go against us.
Our Mission
CheckYourTap makes public water-quality records easier to inspect. We provide free ZIP-level reports that summarize public-system records or regional groundwater context and prioritize exact, source-released health information for the household groups and pets a visitor selects. The report preserves source limits and directs property-level questions to utility confirmation or a certified sample.
Why We Built This
Valiant Energy Solutions has been serving Connecticut homeowners since 1930, starting in Shelton, CT. Working with families over the years, Valiant's team kept hearing the same question: “Is my water safe?”
The answers were scattered across government databases, buried in PDF reports, and written in language designed for regulators, not families. So Valiant funded CheckYourTap as an independent service to make those records easier to find and interpret, with relevant household and pet context where the cited evidence supports it, without presenting ZIP associations as property tests. Today we connect visitors who opt in with a vetted local water partner, and we're adding more.

Alexander brings a background in data analytics and environmental health to CheckYourTap. He leads the data pipeline that processes EPA, USGS, and EWG datasets into personalized, source-bounded water-record reports. His goal is to make complex environmental data accessible while keeping its geography, time, and reference limitations visible.

Those selections prioritize exact source-released health context; they do not mathematically adjust a health threshold or invent a pet-safe value. City-water results summarize public-system records associated with the ZIP, while well-water results provide regional monitoring and geology context. Neither identifies conditions at a particular tap, well, or property.
